This facility is a well-established hospital providing comprehensive surgical and trauma services to the Fort Smith community and surrounding region. As a Level 3 trauma center, it offers a dynamic clinical environment with strong support for acute care surgery and 24/7 trauma call coverage.

Job Details:

• Immediate locum tenens need for an Acute Care Surgeon to maintain continuous 24/7 coverage while a permanent hire is recruited
• Each shift is 24 hours providing full acute care surgery and trauma call coverage
• On-call response required within less than 30 minutes; primarily in-house coverage during the day and trauma by beeper at night
• Census can exceed 30 patient encounters per day including acute care surgical cases
• Responsibilities include on-call coverage, ED consults, and urgent OR demands
• Team runs all trauma calls at this Level 3 trauma facility
• Must hold an active Arkansas medical license
• Board certification required with ATLS certification required
• Credentialing timeframe approximately 30 days
• Required surgical skills include general adult surgery, trauma surgery, and laparoscopic procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, and Nissen fundoplication
• Additional required procedures include liver surgery, sigmoidoscopy, chest tube insertion, and central line insertion

Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
