This facility is one of Connecticut's largest and most comprehensive behavioral health programs, operating as a 76-bed freestanding psychiatric hospital that serves as the flagship behavioral health service line for the Fairfield region. The facility offers a full continuum of care including adult, dual diagnosis, and child/adolescent inpatient services, Emergency Department and consult-liaison psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, Intensive Outpatient Programs, and outpatient behavioral health clinics throughout Fairfield County. It also serves as a primary teaching hospital for a respected medical school's psychiatry residency program.

Job Details:

  • Medical Director leadership role within a specialized Adult Mood Disorders Inpatient Unit
  • Lead and collaborate with an experienced multidisciplinary treatment team in providing direct inpatient psychiatric care
  • Provide care to adults experiencing mood, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders
  • Participate in resident supervision and medical student teaching
  • Academic appointment eligibility through an affiliated university medical school
  • Dedicated academic time with an established Psychiatry Residency Program
  • Monday through Friday schedule with no required after-hours call
  • Optional moonlighting opportunities available for additional income
  • Access to a Provider Leadership Development Institute and Office of Provider Wellness
  • MD or DO degree required; Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
  • Must be eligible for unrestricted Connecticut medical license
  • Interest in academic psychiatry, teaching, and leadership required
  • Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based behavioral healthcare
